Wilderness First Aid

Youth SHARE will sponsor a Wilderness First Aid course on June 29 – June 30, 2013 at the Missouri Outdoor Recreation & Education Center in Morrison, Missouri. Space is limited.

The Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course is the best and most comprehensive course of its kind to offer relevant and realistic first-aid training for outdoor enthusiasts and sportsman.

Wilderness First Aid is a two-day introduction to general medical concepts and basic life support skills. This course is taught by professional instructors from Wilderness Medical Associates (www.wildmed.com). Instructors have significant patient care and backcountry experience. This course also meets the requirements for Girl Scouts of America (GSA) and Boy Scouts of America (BSA) for outdoor leadership.

The WFA course provides intensive, in-depth training in the areas of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, patient assessment system, body systems, environmental injuries/ conditions, anaphylaxis, lifting/moving/extrication, patient carries, and backcountry medicine. Course requires successful passage of National Certification Exam.
